E-learning Information for New Students

SIS (Student Information System) 

You can manage all student-related information with the SIS (Student Information System), including admissions, timetable schedules, course enrollment, grades, records, transcripts and student self-service.


The HKU Connect email is a Google powered email service. You can enjoy service such as Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive etc..

Learning Management System

Moodle is the primary Learning Management System for University teaching and learning. You can access online course materials, participating in forums and online quizzes, and submit the assignment. For more details, see Moodle user guides for students.

Learning and Teaching Videos

When your teacher record and upload learning videos on Panopto, you can access it anytime anywhere. For more details, see Lecture Capture Services (LCS).

Video Conferencing

HKU provides Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Skype for Business for video conferencing and communication. Your teachers may use the above tools to organize online lessons to support your learning needs.


Software such as Microsoft Office 365, SPSS Products are available for use by students. For more software items and details, please see Centrally Provided Software


HKUVPN (HKU Virtual Private Network) is a channel for accessing the campus network when you are outside the University network.  It supports a secure connection for you to access the IT systems and electronic resources in the same way as if they are within the campus network. The purpose of HKU e-Portfolio is to document students’ learning progress over time and evaluate students’ learning progress in applicable scenarios. For more details, please see HKU Student-e-Portfolio.
